The Happiest Apple

I don't usually advertise other sites on my blog, but this store is so cute! Go check it out, it's The Happiest Apple!. She also has a blog here :)

The designs are all really cute - this one is my favorite, but most of the designs are really child-like and sweet. A quote from her profile: "Welcome to my shop! The Happiest Apple specializes in adorableness. Many of my designs were made with a nursery or child's room in mind but some are meant for big kids like myself too :Þ" That's so me!!! LOL

Anyway, I highly recommend checking it out and supporting fellows artists!

Wendy and Bryan's Baby Shower, 6-6-09

Last Saturday was Wendy and Bryan's baby shower! They basically wanted a lot of candids to document the day, and of course, true to my style, I took a TON of photos! I really love to capture all the details of an event - everything from the cake to presents to the people (of course!).

Of course I had to take a picture of this couple! They have two little boys and she told me they rarely get the chance to be alone, so I wanted to be sure and get a nice portrait of just the two of them. I also have a ton of pics of their boys ;-)

Makeover

This blog needs to be re-vamped! I've been saying that for quite awhile now, but seriously... I may do a whole new site completely. I'm bored of this set up and I want a better way to show/categorize my photos. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, send them my way! :-D

Weekend Rush

I've been super busy the past few months because I am back in school. I haven't had much time to do any non-class related photography, but it seems I will be making it all up in the next 48 hours. Well, technically this is class-related work, but not completely. I've basically booked myself with 5 people over the next 2 days. No idea how that's going to work out in terms of complete and utter exhaustion, but I will for sure get lots of good stuff. My final project for this class is kind of a secret, but it involves different portraits. Each person I'm working with will give me 30 mins to shoot my idea, and the rest of the time I will shoot photos for their respective portfolios. It's a win-win.

If this works out well, I just may do again. That is, if it doesn't kill me ;-)

Sean and Diana's Dholki

As I was going through my Flickr stream, I realized that I never posted the photos from Sean and Dianna's dholki ceremony that was back in August of last year!!! This ceremony is (I believe) a traditional Pakistani event before a wedding. It is similar to a bridal shower, but filled with lots of music, food, dancing, and all kinds of fun. This is my favorite pic from the night - I think it really captures the spirit!

Also, this was when I was trying out a watermark... obviously it didn't work out! Still need to work on that...

Update... and a self-portrait

Well it seems my plan to update this blog more frequently hasn't quite taken effect yet... However, I have been keeping extremely busy with all kinds of exciting (and not so exciting) stuff. I am back in school taking some classes, one of them being a black and white photo class. I took this about four years ago - it was definitely what sparked my love of photography! So here I am again, developing my own film and making my own prints. I LOVE it. I've been doing digital pretty much exclusively, and it's kind of nice to be using film. Definitely a change. It's a whole different process, each print is a labor of love. I have yet to find the time to really experiment, so far I've been sticking to the assignments, but I try to put my own spin on things. Here is one from our "Portrait" assignment. I have a fascination with self-portraits (and not in the conceited way!), and since I kind of do portraits all the time, I decided to do an interpretation of one of my favorite Cindy Sherman photos.

I still have lots of stuff that I want to post on here, and I do have a few new things in the works. For right now though, I am concentrating on finishing this semester in one piece...
